This new motor, developed in collaboration with Yamaha, has higher torque and greater maximum support than the older SyncDrive Pro motor. It is also smaller, lighter and quieter. It is optimized for bikes with our patented Maestro suspension , and its performance and ride characteristics are tuned specifically for riding in difficult to very difficult terrain. It is very sensitive to the torque from the rider, so it can quickly adjust the amount of assistance that the rider needs in a given situation.

At just 2.75kg, it’s Yamaha’s lightest motor yet. Its torque is 85Nm and in its most powerful Power mode, it adds 400% electric power to 100% of the rider’s power, which is four times the amount of power generated by the rider. You can also adjust the amount of assistance in each riding mode to your personal preference via our smartphone app . This gives you more freedom to adjust how the motor responds to your “input force” and thus fine-tune the behavior of your e-bike.

Like all Giant SyncDrive motors, this new SyncDrive Pro is equipped with a fully automatic Smart Assist mode, in which the system automatically adjusts the most appropriate level of motor assistance so that you don't have to worry about anything while riding. Another advantage is the narrow Q factor, which is the distance between the rider's feet when pedaling. While a larger distance between the feet can increase knee strain, a smaller distance creates a natural and comfortable riding position. The intelligent Walk Assist mode is also not to be missed, which is not just a mere "assistant" for guiding the bike while walking, but provides enough power to help you get the bike comfortably and safely over various obstacles that need to be overcome on foot.
