Rechargeable battery Fenix ​​18650 3500 mAh (L18-3500U) with its own micro-USB charging connector. It can be charged by connecting a cable to the micro-USB connector (e.g. from a computer or mobile phone charger) or in a classic charger. Li-ion rechargeable batteries are characterized by a very high capacity, do not suffer from memory effect or self-discharge. Li-ion in the size of 18650 are the best choice in terms of stored energy given the dimensions and weight of the battery.

Fenix ​​battery protection consists of internal safety mechanisms and protective electronics. Added electronic circuits prevent cell overcharging, excessive discharge and short circuit or excessive current consumption. If the battery electronics evaluate that the limit values ​​have been reached, they safely disconnect the cell.

Internal protection consists of a separator, PTC thermal protection and a special anti-explosion valve. In the event that the gas pressure in the cell exceeds a certain limit, the internal separator separates the electrodes inside the battery, thereby de-facto interrupting the exothermic reaction, and the anti-explosion valve releases the excess gas pressure outside the battery. Thanks to the combination of electronic and mechanical (temperature and pressure) protection, Fenix ​​batteries are among the safest Li-ion batteries available.

The 18650 battery is roughly the size of two CR123A lithium batteries, which is why it is often used in flashlights as a rechargeable alternative to these primary cells. Check first to see if your device supports this cell.

Charging via micro-USB connector

Plug the USB cable into the side micro-USB connector, the indicator light on the top of the battery will be red during charging. When fully charged, it will be blue or green.

Notice

  • If you are using an older charger purchased before 2014, first check whether it can accommodate batteries with a length of 69-70 mm.
  • If possible, do not discharge the battery below 2.5 V.
  • Do not short-circuit the battery (do not connect the cell poles with a wire)
  • Do not throw the battery into fire or water.
  • Never insert the battery into the charger upside down (reverse polarity).
  • When using the battery, observe safety precautions.
  • Only use an adequate charger that supports Li-ion batteries.
